Obituary of Ruth M. Strong

Ruth M. Strong, 81, of Cortland NY, passed away December 30, 2009. at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born September 21, 1928 in Sloatsburg NY, daughter of the late Harry and Marguerite DeHart Jordan. Mrs. Strong was raised and educated in North Bangor NY, then relocated to the Cortland area with her family in 1945. She was employed by Brewer Titchener Corp., then with Smith Corona Corp. where she retired from. While working at Brewer Titcheners she met her husband Buel and was married in 1947. She was a past member of the Preble Congregational Church, Homer Methodist Church, Preble Fire Dept. Auxiliary, and Cortland Sr. Citizens. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing, bowling, listening to music, attending local music venues. She is survived by her husband of 62 yrs. Buel Strong of Cortland, daughter Sharon (Timothy) Towle of Cortland NY, son William (Diane) Strong of Jamesville NY, grandchildren Heather (Carl) Petrozillo, Michelle Strong and her fiancÃĩe Mat Evans, Julie Strong, great granddaughter Marlea. Calling hours will be held Sunday 4-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland NY 13045. A funeral service will be held Monday 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, with burial to follow at the Cortland Rural Cemetery.
