Obituary of Doris E. Wight

Doris Wight, 85, of Homer NY, passed away November 24, 2009 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born November 19, 1924 in Bronxville NY, the daughter of the late Wendell and Pearl Mills Gruber. Mrs. Wight had lived in Little York with her late husband for over 50 years, then moved to Homer to live at the Ellis Pines Apartments. While living there she made numerous friendships and enjoyed her time there. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and caring for her pets. Doris is survived by her sister Margaret Morgan of Old Forge NY, sister in law Pat Gruber of Eastchester NY, seven nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Tappan Wight in 1997. Calling hours will be Saturday 11 am-12 pm with a funeral service to begin 12 noon at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Cemetery. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. I wish I had more time to know her better. God Bless her and keep her, Pammy. Aunt Doris was loved by all her family, she and my mother were best of friends. She was a lively lady, and will be missed. I know she will meet up with Uncle Mike, Maggie and Ken and have a good time.
