Obituary of Prudence A. Walling

Prudence A. Walling, 69, of Cortland NY, passed away Friday September 18, 2009 at her home. She was born October 7, 1939 in Binghamton NY, the daughter of the late James & Marion Nightingale Reid. Mrs. Walling came to the Cortland area in the early 1960's with her late husband Douglas. Together they had lived locally for over 45 years. She was a member of the Cortland YWCA, active in water aerobics. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, reading, tending to her pets and flowers. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family whom will cherish her memory. She is survived by her daughters Juanita (Dan) Poole of Truxton NY, Julie (Jay) Rice of Cincinnatus NY, Darlene (joseph) Aloi of Cortland NY, Lisa (Jim) Walling of Virgil NY, sons Douglas Walling of Cortland, Paul (Nancy) Walling of Cortland NY, sisters Priscilla (Don) Vigliotti of Long Island, Patricia (Bob) Vonderheide of Florida, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Douglas Walling Sr., brothers Ronald & James Reid. Calling hours will be Monday evening 6-8 pm and Tuesday 10-11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY 13045. A funeral service will be held Tuesday 11 am following the calling hour at Wright-Beard Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
