Our family would like to extend our condolences on the passing of Helen. I remember Helen since I was a child and she was our neighbor and part time babysitter and tutor at times. I later reconnected with Helen many years later when I became a teacher. She was a wonderful woman and role model, and will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. God Bless you all.

Dear Uncle Dick, Kevin, Mike, and Colleen,
I am very saddened by the passing of Aunt Helen. I have many great memories of her and each of you. I loved staying at your house, as a child. I remember you traveling to Ticonderoga, too. I also was lucky enough to share many recipes with her, both hers and Grandmas. She has been supportive with Dad in all of his ups and downs. Her constant contact meant the world to him. She was a warrior and an inspiration for all of us. Memories of her will always be present in this household.
Love and prayers to each of you!

Kevin,
I was very sad to learn over the weekend of your mother's passing. I immediately remembered times at Springfield College when you would receive a care package from home with your Mom's homemade jelly or times I was welcomed into your home as a visitor. She truly made me feel welcomed and part of the family!! I will always remember her as the type of person that was always able to find the beauty in almost anything.
Dick, behind the obvious emotions you are faced, you must be proud to have shared so many years and experiences with such a wonderful person. To Mike, Colleen and my good friend Kevin, you are heavy in my thoughts as I know your mother was so special to all 3 of you. I am sure there are many qualities of hers that you each possess and carry every day. These traits and qualities will be passed along through your families, which I am sure will allow her legacy to live forever!!
Sincerely,
Greg Clements

Dear Dick and family, and members of the Maher family, my sincere condolences on Helen's passing. When I was in school she was in high school, and I always admired her very much. What a vivid personality! A gorgeous singing voice as well; I remember her singing the haunting "I Wonder as I Wander". And such a pretty woman. She also had a strong devotion to Christ, and that impressed me too. I am so very sorry for you loss; I am sure you have many wonderful memories. Prayers for comfort and peace, Dottie Tei Seeland.

My family and I were very sad to hear of Helen's passing..She was a warm, loving woman who my daughter was lucky enough to have as a teacher in 2001. Over the years, we had opportunities to see her, and she never changed! Always a smile and hug asking about the family. Our sympathies to her family, she will be missed.

Helen was so very kind to our mother, Marg O'Donnell, in 1996. Our mother had fractured her neck (at age 76) and was fitted with a halo brace which she wore for several months. Helen heard of Mom's situation and offered to stop over and talk with Mom about her experiences with a halo brace. She was very comforting and we all felt better after listening to Helen. She even gave our mom a shawl that she used for going outside for doctor's appts. while she was in the brace.
My sympathy to Helen's family.

Condolences for your loss of your wife/mother/sibling---I remember running into Helen @Dr Haake's office//Strong Memorial/Rochester in the early 80's--my son had apt & his friend MJ Robinson came w/us as he'd been spending a few weeks @my house---I had to come back to the waiting room while X-rays were takin--& MJ said "Hey this is ?? Holl--he lives in Tully"--where MJ lived--then nurse said I could go back in--going thru the door a couple were coming out--I immediately said "Helen Mahar--is that you??"--it was--and she remembered me from SMS/Cortland and was very encouraging telling me to have my son continue to wear the Milwaukee Brace ------Simcerely, Kay Healey Ellis
