Jay A. Peck, 88 of Cortland, NY passed away peacefully on 3/15/15. Jay was born 12/2/26 in Cortland, NY, son of Harold P. and Esther Bundy Peck. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Jerri Ann, and his sister, Sally P. Spaulding.
Jay is survived by his daughter Ellen Peck Albanese (Michael), and son William J. Peck (Mary), 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
Jay was a graduate of Staunton Military Academy (1944), New York State Maritime Academy (1946) and Rochester Business Institute (1947). He volunteered active duty in the Navy with honorable discharge. He enjoyed a long career as President of Peck’s Furniture House in Cortland, a 3-generation family business established by his grandfather, N.J. Peck, in 1888.
Jay and Jerri Ann retired to St. Pete Beach, Florida in 1997. They spent their summers at their home on Skaneateles Lake.
Jay was a member of the First Methodist Church, Cortland Country Club, Rotary Club, and the American Legion. He was a talented singer and member of the Squires. He loved to hunt with close friends at Skate Creek Hunting club, and enjoyed many years skiing at Greek Peak.
Jay, in his own words, was a true loving patriot of his country and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
