Obituary of Karen L. Stupke

Karen L. Stupke, 66, of Cortland, passed away September 1, 2015 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born December 7, 1948 in Cortland the daughter of the late Roland and Leolyn Griswold Oaks. Karen was raised and educated locally graduating from Cortland High School. She was a day care provider for 42 yrs. having watched over two hundred fifty children in her home. She was a member of SMF through the Red Cross and a member of the Senior Citizens of Virgil. She had nine lives, and lived them all. Karen liked to be zany, and always loved a good laugh. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 25 yrs. Gary Stupke, her two awesome sons Eric (Wendy Herbold) Robarge, Brian (Sarah) Robarge , her step daughters Michelle (Rob) Golabek, Kristin Slawesky, step son John Carvelle, eight grandchildren, her brother Randy (Donna) Oaks, Charlene (Ralph) Cotterill, Gail (Steve) Sherman, Melanie (Randy) Odell, and a special aunt Emma Ryan, nieces and nephews, special friends Joyce Nadge, Rachell Movan, Jerry and Barb Matterson, along with Pat Smith, and so many others. Calling hours will be Sat. Sept 5th from 3-4pm with a memorial service to begin at 4pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. The family will continue to celebrate Karen's life with a meal and fellowship at the Cortlandville Fire Dept. Hall, Tompkins St., immediately following the services. Private burial will be at the Virgil Cemetery. Karen and her family would like to thank Dr. Bael and the Cayuga Medical Center for their care.
