Sorry to see you go. I have so many good memories of all of us at TC3. You are the one who turned me on to pinball. I don't think I can count the hours we spent at the Bee Hive playing the game. We sure knew how to party in those days. I wonder if the North Fourty is still there? I remember when we almost got hit by that train in Freeville in my old beater. We laughed so hard from the fright. I tried to look you up last year, but was using Chris instead of Christopher. I'll pass it on to Judy and Kelly. Unfortunately Russ is no longer with us to tell either. Hope you found each other "up there". I don't know if anyone knows Rick (the blind guy). If so let me know. Every time I see a Twinkie I think of him too.
To everyone else. Don't let life get in the way of staying in touch with the people you love. It slips away too fast. Sorry for your loss

Donna,Matt,Nate and Lissy,
I am so sorry that Chris has left us. I wanted to share a few words of wisdom that he gave me shortly after I met him. I think it was when he called to offer me the job. I had to get my wisdom teeth out about a week before he wanted me to start and of course I was afraid. He told me that "anticipation is worse than participation" That saying has stayed with me and he was right!! You know that I have said that he let me be a mother to my girls (I didn't have Michael yet) and I think he understood how hard a mother's life is when she wants to care for her children. He must have seen Donna how much you had to do and I bet in some way he was showing his appreciation to you by how he treated me and other moms at work. Matt, Nate and Lissy-he loved you guys so much and you were his world. The grandchildren are just adorable!!! He lives on through all of you!!

My first memory of Chris was from Ponderosa in Cortland. He was one of my favorite customers. I could talk to him for hours and enjoy every minute of it. I respected him very much and inspire to be like him in my life. Get well rested Chris because I expect to continue our conversations in the future.

Donna and family,
I just wanted to pass along my shock and sadness when I learned about the passing of Chris. I was looking forward to seeing you folks at the hockey rink again as we did so many yeas ago.
I enjoyed the smiles and the rink-side chats that we shared. His laugh and positive attitude is an inspiration to all the met him.

I was shocked and saddened to come across this obituary on Facebook tonight. I also hate that I had to write that I saw this on social media. Melissa was one of my greatest friends in high school. She gave me the nickname of Han Solo (Meg-Han solo) and it made class all the better from that point forward. Years pass, friends move on, and thoughts about high school friends fall from your mind. However, no matter how far away, the loss of a father is felt by all. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Farkas family tonight. I can't imagine what you are going through. I can only offer you my sincere thoughts, prayers, and fond memories.
Cheers Mr. Farkas, the Homer community will never forget the love you shared with all of us.

To Chris’ family and friends:
Please accept my condolences and may peace and comfort find you at this most difficult time.
I was one of Chris’ elementary to high school classmates, who spent many a day with him. Though I must admit, getting released a few minutes early from class to help him was most welcome. It also allowed me time to get to know him and taught me, at a young age, a valuable lesson, which Chris gave to so many. Always smile and have fun no matter what the circumstances. Inspire others to greatness.
Thanks for being you. “There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.”…Gandhi

He will always be my biggest source of inspiration. I don't ever remember a time when he wasn't smiling and making the best of any situation. I'll always miss his pep talks, his laugh, him shaking my hand and pulling me close to tell me how proud of us all he was, and of course, the off ice coaching sessions with he and Matt. He will be forever remembered by everyone with fond memories and as the example of the way life should be lived and enjoyed. I can't express deep enough condolences for a man who can't be described with words. Nothing written could ever do him justice. I will miss him dearly and keep him in a special place in my heart. My love to you all.

We worked for Chris at CAPCO for many years. One of the things about him that will always stand out about him for us was his absolute dedication to his family. He adored his wife, “Hun” and his children Matt, Nate and Lyssie and immersed himself in whatever they were doing. He loved hockey and soccer and continued to follow the area high school and soccer teams long after his own children were done playing. At work he kept things interesting and-light hearted. As mentioned in his obituary he loved monkeys and had 100’s of stuffed monkeys in his office. When he left CAPCO he gave many employees monkeys to remember him by. His strengths were in networking and building connections. He seemed to know everyone in the area and a trip down Main Street could take hours as he stopped to talk to everyone we encountered. Although he left CAPCO about ten years ago, he called periodically and kept to keep in touch and check on the agency that was so important to him. We will miss him more than we can say. Rest in Peace, Chris and all our love to Donna, Matt, Nate, Melissa and your families.

My deepest condolences to the family and to all who knew Chris. I'm not sure how he would feel about being called an icon but he truly was. In many years of working in human services our paths crossed frequently. Chris was able to make a lot of great things happen in Cortland for children and for families, both through his work at CAPCO and in his personal life. He will be missed...

Dear Donna and family, I was so shocked to hear the news of Chris's passing. He was definitely a light and joy in this world. My mother and I will never forget the first time we met him, he was so encouraging and inspiring to me. His generosity, allowing me to volunteer and utilize CAPCO's offices, was the catalyst to helping me establish Access to Independence! He will forever be known as "Grandpa Farkas"to our agency-Access to Independence!
I am so happy that I got to see Chris and you at the movie theater, he was always one to encourage me to go out and have some fun as well!
Suffice it to say, he will be dearly missed by our family and many others. But I know we will see each other again! That is our hope and our promise!
Love you.

There is little stronger in this world than the bonds of family. When there is pain and sorrow the family gathers to offer comfort and support. This candle represents the coming together of our family at this time of loss to share in our grief but also to encourage each other in the love that we all hold towards Chris and one another.
Chris, you have encouraged and inspired me as well as many others in your life. I pray that your example will continue to touch people for years to come. Amen.

Chris was a close friend for many years. We shared many good times in cold ice arenas supporting our kids who played on the Cortland Homer Hockey Team. He loved the sport and the kids who played. He served the Cortland area with passion and enthusiasm. Over the years I have shared numerous memories of the time with Chris and will continue to do so. As long as there is a place to play hockey I will listen closely for Chris's commentary. From goal to goal he will remain in my heart.
Love you man!
