Mary J. Riley, 75 of Cortland, passed away on December 6, 2015 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. She was born on March 21, 1940 a daughter of the late George and Helen McCarthy Jewett. Mary graduated from Marathon High School Class of 1959. Mary retired from Bristol Myers, East Syracuse as a data processor after 25 years of service. Mary volunteered at the coffee shop at Cortland Regional Medical Center, she was loved by everyone and loved her time spent at the coffee shop. Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren. The Mullen, Taylor, and Jewett families were also very special to her. She had a very infectious laugh and a smile to light up the room. Mary is survived by her former husband, John (Pete) Riley, North Syracuse; one son, Peter and Lara Riley, Fairport; one daughter, Mary Pat and Daniel Fogarty, Syracuse; four grandchildren, Caitlyn and Brendan Riley, Jacob and Bridget Fogarty, two sisters, Frances and Gary Mullen, Margaret and David Taylor as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY 13045. A Memorial mass will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10:30 am, St. Mary's Church, burial will follow in Cortland Rural Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to Toys for Tots, 2755 East River Rd., Cortland NY, 13045.
