Irene Foote, 87 of Cortland passed away on June 20, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 11, 1930 in Cortland a daughter of the late Floyd and Muriel Pendergast Finn. Irene graduated from Cortland High School class of 1946, Cortland University, with a bachelor in teaching. She first taught at St. Mary's School, Cortland then Homer Intermediate Schools retiring in 1989. Irene was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading, quilting and crafting. Irene is survived by two sons, Michael A. Foote, Sr., Mark E. Foote, four daughters, Karen Aubrey Arnold, Kathleen (Mitchell) Sturdee, Alison (Sam) Baughman, PA, Diane Redfield, 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parent's, two brothers, Arnold and Richard Finn, a beloved Uncle, Duane Finn. Calling hours will be held on Friday 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. A funeral mass will be held Friday 11:00 at St. Mary's Church, 59 N. Main Street Cortland. Burial will follow in Atwater Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Irene's name can be made to St. Mary's School, 61 N. Main Street, Cortland NY 13045, or St. Mary's Church, 59 N. Main Street, Cortland, NY.
