Obituary of Bernard David Wineburg

Bernard David Wineburg, born on July 21, 1945, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2017 in Cape Cod, MA from a heart condition. He was 71 years old. Bernard was born in Cortland, NY, son of the late Samuel and Betty (Krill) Wineburg. His career started at his family owned business, Harold's Army Navy store, until it was changed over to Harold's Men Store in the 1960's. In 1995, the store was renamed to Bernard's. Bernard owned and operated the store until his retirement in 2009. In his retirement, Bernard split his time between Palm Beach, FL and Cape Cod, MA. His favorite pass time was playing golf and chatting with and spending time with close friends. Bernard believed in living life to the fullest and cherished the relationships he had with his friends and family. When he lived locally, he was an active member of the Cortland Country Club, Cortland Elks Lodge, the Cortland Exchange Club, and the Cortland University Club. Bernard is survived by his significant other, Ryna Greenbaum, his only son, Steven, daughter in law, Heather (Connolly), and his three granddaughters, Bethany, Sophia and Hayden Wineburg, his sister Marilyn (Alex Groth), his nephews Stevin (Allison Groth) and Warren Groth.
Calling hours are being held at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, located on Lincoln Avenue in Cortland, NY on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm. The funeral service will also take place at Wright-Beard on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:30am with grave site service to follow at the Cortland Rural Cemetery.
