John was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Of his multitudes of interests, painting historical miniatures was a life's passion that began at an early age. He was an active member of the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society (HMGS) and attended many of the HMGS' conventions as well as hosting numerous games throughout the year with local gamers who would gather from the near vicinities. BJ looked forward to and enjoyed the camaraderie he shared with his fellow hunters and gamers.

John was a fun loving man whose sense of humor was infectious and his compassion for others was beyond compare. He was never without a smile and always made the time to listen and offer kind words to console others.

BJ had many relatives, colleagues, and friends, some who were considered brothers to him and he will truly be missed. There will be no calling hours as per John's wishes. Anyone who would like to make a donation in BJ's name may do so to the Cortland County SPCA located at 879 McLean Road, Cortland, NY 13045.
