Obituary of Robert Phenes

Reverend Robert "Bob" Phenes of Cortland went to be with his Lord and Savior November 6th at Cortland Regional Medical Center. Surviving is his wife of 62 years Miriam (Robinson) of Cortland, Son Robert (Donna) of FL, son David (Barbara) of NY, and daughters Sharon and Debra of Cortland NY. Five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Robert worked at Wilson Sporting Goods till they closed. Robert was born August 4, 1934 in Rome, NY. He grew up in the Childrens Home till its closure and lived in a few foster homes till his late teens. Robert discovered the family he never had when he gave his life to God. He became a part of the "family of God." Robert graduated from Zion Bible Institute in R.I., and met his wife Miriam while playing the trumpet at her father's church. Robert moved back to Cortland to assist at Parkside Assembly of God. Many weekends Robert and his family would travel to many country churches to minister in word and song. Later in life, he could be found in his scooter visiting patients in the hospital and nursing homes. While in the nursing home these past years, he continued to minister to other residents and families. Bob was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior till the end. A calling hour will take place Saturday from 1 to 2pm with a funeral service to take place at 2pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be private.
