Miss you John. You were a great man. I'll always remember your smile. You will be surely missed by all. I met John in the gas station with his buddies. He always had a smile on his face and only kind words to say. He was always in a good mood. I will surely miss him.

I Met John in early 1979 when my wife Linda and I moved to Cortland. We had rented a house on Maple Ave. and John lived just up the street. Even back then John was fully involved as a volunteer with the cortland fire department. He tried to get me to join but with running a new business and a baby that wasn’t going to happen.
At the time I didn’t know he loved the Beatles as much as I did too. I had a truck load of stuff to take to the dump and he came along to show me where it was. He saw I had Beatle tapes and that’s all it took.
Years went by and my wife and I moved to Tompkins Street and we rarely saw John. Once in a while he stop by while out riding his bike to catch up.
I saw John much more after John & Felicia bought the Convenient food mart on Groton Ave. As I did business there.
After the stores closed I only saw John a couple times. But he always asked how our daughters were and we always joked about coming down the hill from the dump listening to the Beatles.

I remember the first time Brian "Pork" brought me over to the house to meet you all. Kayla and Nicole we so little!! They brought me upstairs to show me their rooms, then after I came downstairs and we all hung out. John was such a nice guy with a great sense of humor and he had the biggest heart. You all have welcomed me in your home from day one and I felt as if I were part of the family. Love you all very much!! John will be missed. xoxo

My sincerest condolences to the whole family. John was a very kind and caring man. My memories of him are from my high school days. He always chaparoned our Homer High dances.
