Obituary of Krista Speicher

Krista Marie Speicher, age 31, beloved daughter of Dr. Joseph Speicher, Cortland, and Joanne Gorn Speicher, Homer, left this world on Sunday, July 14, after a medical emergency. Krista had recently moved back to Central New York after working in the film and design industries in Los Angeles. She was a certified doula and studying to become a midwife. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her older brother Paul (Lisa) of Huntsville, AL, her younger brother John of Cortland, niece Eloise Speicher, nephews Bennett and Henry Speicher, her maternal grandmother Mrs. Jane Logan, and her bereaved aunts, uncles, cousins, and sisters-in-law. She is predeceased by paternal grandparents, Joseph and Theresa Speicher. Krista was a creative and adventurous spirit, loved by many on both coasts. She was an infinitely kind, generous and compassionate soul who loved without judgment. She was a graduate of Cortland Junior-Senior High School (2006) and Cornell University (2011) after a year abroad in Brazil. Krista was always active in the arts; she loved design and dance, and recently became involved with Cortland Repertory Theatre as a seamstress. Calling hours will be held Friday 4-8 PM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. A memorial service will be held at Wright-Beard on Saturday at 1PM. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Upstate Medical Center ICU staff and the physicians at Duke University.
