Uncle Herb was one of my mothers older brothers. Being an educator he was a great help to my mother with educational tools to help when I had some early learning problems in 1st grade. My brother Steve visited Uncle Herb at his farm in NY. Many great memories for both of us. He is missed.

Uncle Herb was a great man. He volunteered for WW2 even though he would have been 4F if drafted. He taught me how to play baseball in 1949. A bachelor at the time, he could always be counted on to be generous to his nephews at Christmas time. He always encouraged me in my various endeavors over the years and was a very positive influence on my life.

What a wonderful man and math teacher he was at Dryden Elementary School. All these years later (about 40!) I can still hear him singing "Standing on the vertex, watching all the girls go by". May he rest in Peace.

Mr.Booth, an icon of McLean! Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, Explorer Post Leader, served on both the local and regional scouting boards. A recipient of the Silver Beaver award (the highest award in scouting to an adult). More than one trip to the Philmont Scout ranch in New Mexico. A sixth grade teacher in the McLean School (now Cassavant). Then became the assistant principal under Fred Billard for all of Dryden Elementary. I have numerous photos of Herb during his scouting and educational days in McLean. In my backyard stands a red oak tree that Herb gave us in the early sixties, I call it the Herb tree! He was the legal guardian of my two sons in the event that one was needed. He was a great friend and will be long remembered.

I enjoyed getting to know Herb at Homer's U. Methodist Church. Right now I am picturing his smile and great sense of humor.

Mr. Booth was the elementary principal at McLean Elementary School. I had the privilege of having him as my 6th grade teacher at McLean school over 50 years ago. I really liked and respected him and one of my fondest memories was of his teaching our class some basic German. RIP Mr. Booth...the world was better with you in it...
