Obituary of Herbert M. Booth

Herbert Booth, 96, of Homer, N.Y., passed away on October 1, 2019. He was born on July 23, 1923 in Amityville, N.Y. to the late Howard and Eunice Cook Booth.

 

Herbert served in the Army Air Force during World War II, serving in England, France, and Germany. He was a graduate from SUNY Cortland with a Master's Degree in Education. Herbert went on to work as an Assistant Principal at Dryden Central School. He was active in Boy scouts and was awarded a Silver Beaver Award. Herbert was an active member of the Tompkins County United Way for 30 years, and he was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Homer, N.Y.

Herbert is survived by many nieces and nephews.

 

Herbert is predeceased by his wife Virginia Booth, his brothers Franklyn (Catherine) Booth and Howard E. Booth, his sisters Corrine (Raymond) Quigley, Audrey Styles, and Eunice Pyper.

 

Calling hours will be held Thursday October 3, 2019 from 6-8pm at the Wright-beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, N.Y.

 

A funeral service will be held Friday October 4, 2019 at 11am, at The First United Methodist Church in Homer, N.Y. Burial will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery, Homer NY. The Wright-Beard Funeral Home is serving the family.
