Ronald "Ronnie" Franklin Bacon, 90, formerly of Cortland, passed away January 8, 2020 at Abrazo West Campus Medical Center in Goodyear, AZ. He was born November 9, 1929 in Manlius NY, the son of the late Henry James and Mary Louise Bacon. Ronnie was raised and educated in Cortland. He graduated from Truxton High School in 1949. Then earned his associate's degree with the United States Air Force. Ronnie was a veteran of the US Army and US Air Force serving for over twenty-three years and was honorably discharged from both branches of service. He was employed as letter carrier for the US Postal Service retiring in 1991. He relocated to Arizona to be closer to family. While living in Cortland he was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a life member of the VFW, a 40 year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He is survived by his wife Shou-mei Tu, his son Michael (Lyndsey) Bacon, his daughter Tammy (Shawn Gaylord) Bacon, 4 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was predeceased by his sisters Vivien Rupert and Shirley Hartnett. A service will be held at the Cortland Rural Cemetery (Veterans Plot) on Friday May 22, 2020 at 10:00am.
