Roy L. Brown of Marathon passed away on February 7, 2020 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. He was born on June 23, 1931 in Greene a son of the late Lloyd and Thelma Morton Brown. Roy worked and lived in Deposit until 1962 when he moved to Freetown where he owned and operated a dairy farm for 30 years. After retiring from farming, Roy drove for Cortland Transit for 12 years. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Elsie Brown, 2 daughters, Ann (Ken) Schottke, Mary Brown, step daughter, Lisa Cornell, step son, L. David Spore, brothers, Dale Brown, Donald Brown, sister Nancy Ouimet, sister in law, Betty Lou Bakker, grandchildren, Caroline (Jeff Hurchla) Howard, Jennifer Bowman, Brittany (Jermey) Dorah, Matthew (Nicole) Sherman, twelve great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also these special people Darlene Reid, John (Mary) Brooks and Tom Joseph, and a very special nephew Bud Brown. Roy was predeceased by his first wife, Caroline Brown, sister, Edna Henderickson, brothers, Keith Brown, Dave Brown, Clayton Brown, Lloyd Brown, and grandsons Jeffrey Fox and Peter Dellow. Calling hours will be 1-3 PM Sunday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland with A Time of Sharing to follow at 3 PM. Spring burial will be in Marathon Cemetery.
