Timothy "Tim" Carmody, 70, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his family by his side on April 25, 2020.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Adelaide (De Barros) and their two children: son William Carmody and his wife, Tara (Normandin) of East Atlantic Beach, NY; daughter Mary (Carmody) Bath and her husband Timothy of Richmond, VA.
Tim was born on Staten Island on February 13, 1950, the fourth of five children of the late William and Margaret (Whalen) Carmody. He was predeceased by his sister Claire M. Cleghorn and survived by three sisters: Margaret M. Haugeto and her husband, Harold; Judith E. Yasunaga; and Eileen Carmody. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Tim graduated from New Dorp High School on Staten Island in 1968. He went to SUNY Morrisville for a year prior to joining the Army (1970-1972) where he reached the rank of Sergeant with honorable discharge. He graduated from St. John's University in 1974 and spent his career working as an Industrial Paper and Packaging Specialist, most recently with Unisource Worldwide, Inc. until retirement in 2012. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and accolades and was known for his 'out of the box thinking' and 'going the extra mile' for his clients.
Tim was an avid golfer, skier, and gardener. He enjoyed travelling, reading, and cooking. He always had a project to do whether it was building a sailboat during his high school years or attempting to grow a Redwood tree in his upstate New York yard. He will be remembered for his generosity and selflessness toward his family, friends, and community. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church (Cortland, NY), a member and past president of Cortland Lions Club, and always volunteered for school and sports functions for his children.
