Our sincerest sympathies to Carl's family. Carl was an integral part of the Cortland court system's security team. He took his job seriously. However don't think that meant HE was serious. Carl always had a comical comment, a smile and a good laugh. It was a pleasure to work with him and he will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Carl.

In addition to his law enforcement work for many years Carl worked part-time at Goodhope Youth Home. He brought a gentle and calming presence to his work with troubled teens. My guess is that unless they saw him in uniform many of the kids would never have guessed that he was a cop. I valued Carl's work and his sage advice. He is gone far too young. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
