Obituary of Carl W. Lanpher

Carl W. Lanpher, 61, of Cortland, passed away October 19, 2020 at University Hospital in Syracuse. He was born April 17, 1959 in Cortland, a son of the late Clair and Bernice Lanpher. Carl was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a Veteran of the US Army. He retired from the Cortland County Sheriff's Department after 21 years of service. After his retirement he served 15 years as a Bailiff for the NYS Court System. Carl was passionate about his colleagues, working out at the gym, his dogs, and especially his family and the children they fostered through the years. He had been married 34 years to Terri Cameron Lanpher. Carl is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Lanpher, his sons, Scott (Holli) Vinson, Kevin (Rochelle Hayes) Lanpher and Mark Lanpher; his grandchildren, Trenton and Emma Vinson, Rowen Micah and Brycen Abbatiello; his brother, Harold Lanpher, his sisters, Dottie Prince, Margaret Wheelock, Marjorie (Jerry) Mastin and Sheree (Tom) Bilodeau; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. We will follow NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required, funny ones are encouraged.
