Jeff and I send our deepest sympathy to the family. We knew Dick and Martie at Cortland First UMC. Dick was always quick with a joke and a hug.

I started working at crown a little after my 18th birthday in august of this year, the first floor the placed me on was the floor that had dick and Marty on it, they were the first two residents I met working here and from the moment I met them they shared a very special place in my heart, I was heartbroken to hear that they had passed and poor Marty I placed my hand on her shoulder before she passed and let her know that everything is going to be okay! I truly adored these two amazing people and so sad to see them go! Best of love to the Alger Family, you both will be truly missed!

I chose this candle for you dad because I know how much you liked your baked goods. My dad was always a lover of his food and mom used to bake all of the time.

I sit here trying to choose a memory to post on this wall and am having trouble choosing. There were so many memories and most of them were good ones. My father in my eye's was the kindest person I know. He was always so giving to everyone and so present in our childhoods. He was always there, and it was the little things that I remember most. Like how he would watch me in the store looking at something and then later he would pull it out and give it to me. One time when I was home visiting him we were in a garden center and I was looking at this pretty sun-catcher, he knew I didn't have any money left as I had spent all I had on the flight to see him, and he secretly went over and bought it for me. I still have that thing hanging in my window to this day and it always reminds me of him.
He did so much in his years here. He was a volunteer fireman, a cub scout master and he even was known to help out back stage at my dance recitals moving props for Miss Shirley. He was very much a fixture of the United Methodist Church in Cortland as he was custodian and on all kinds of committees. He was also there for all of my friends and my brothers friends throughout our childhoods.
Most of all he was very present in the lives of his grandchildren. He was well known for stopping by our houses when our kids were little and sneaking them off with him for a day with Poppy.
I personally will always remember my dad for his kindness and unconditional LOVE. I Love you dad and will always keep a piece of you in my heart forever.

He was a great man. I really liked talking with him and everything especially when I worked for Crown as a dietary aide. Also he was like another father figure to me and always knew how to make my day. He will be greatly missed by many

Yes our dad had a way to make everyone smile. Thank you for your memory. Wish you could have known him before his time in the nursing home.
