Dear Greg and Jay and families 52 years ago your dad graciously agreed to be my course counselor at SUNY Cortland. He rescued me from a hated major and guided me through to my senior recital at Cortland. He was the most wonderful gentleman, a great musician and friend. Even your lovely mother coached me in how to present myself throughout my recital which was the crowning end to my undergrad days. My husband and I have always corresponded with him over these many years and we are very saddened to hear, albeit late, of his sudden death. We send you our most heartfelt sympathy. May God comfort you. Debbie and Rocky Blake

To Greg and Jay and your families,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. He was a warm, friendly and gracious man. Often times when I would go back to Cortland to visit our Dad, the weekend would not be complete without a dinner with your Dad on Sunday evening at Wendi's. I think they were both a bit frugal.
When our Dad passed last year, Vince was with us the entire time through all the various events and he felt like one of the family which he was.
The friendship of all the members of the old bridge group ran deep.

To the family,
Dr. Picerno was a great friend to our Mom and Dad for so many years. He was the nicest person...always with a smile and soft, pleasant demeanor in good times and not so good times. We are sorry to hear of his sudden passing and that we could not make it to the funeral. I still remember him taking me to my driver's test when I was 16 as my parents were out of town. He was always good luck! He sent my wife and I a beautiful Christmas decoration for our first Christmas together that we remember him by every year.

Greg and Jay and family, We are saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. Your parents were just a joy and always a part of our Cortland family. I remember they came to visit us in Naperville shortly after Kelly was born. They always made that extra effort. Your Dad's Christmas cards arrived like clockwork every year with his impeccable handwriting...I wish I had that organization! I still can't walk through an antique store without stopping to look at the goblets. Your Mom taught me to look for Heissey glasses and I think of her every time. Thinking of all of you during this difficult transition. Paul and Wendy Sinacore-Haidinyak

Jay and Greg,
We were so saddened to hear about your dad's accident and passing. He and our dad had maintained a steady friendship for years after your mom died and while ours was sick. Sometimes Vince came to Fayetteville for lunch, but more often they met in Tully (at Burger King, I think?) on Saturdays. I know that Dad valued his friendship so much, and was sad to leave it behind when he moved from Syracuse to Annapolis near Kim and me in 2017.
Of course, the real memories started many years ago with the bridge group in Cortland, when we were all growing up. The friendships between our parents (and us kids) made for wonderful fun growing up. They carried on through the decades and are cherished.
We had a chance to see your dad one last time a couple of years ago when he drove to Skaneateles to meet the Holben gang for lunch. He drove there on his own, which amazed us all, given that he was 92 (I think) at the time. It was really special to see him, and I hope he enjoyed it as much as we all did.
Sending my best to you and your families,
Sally Holben VanZandt

Dear Greg and Jay, Our family is deeply saddened by the news of your Dad's passing. It was a difficult phone call today to tell both my parents, John and Angie of his passing. They are in St. John's nursing home together. They wanted me to tell you that they send you all their love. We reminisced how at the drop of a hat, if the Sinacores were driving past Cortland, there would be a very spontaneous meeting at Friendly's. Like the bridge group nights, it was a loud and raucous time, filling the restaurant with laughter. I did have the pleasure of calling your Dad a few years back, on his birthday, with my elementary school band kids ready at the phone to perform "Happy Birthday" to him in their unique beginning band style. It was always wonderful to talk "shop" with your Dad about music education and performing. The Cortland years for our family were cherished because of the wonderful extended family our parents formed with each other. They carried that on throughout their entire lives. Sending you both, my love and prayers to you and your families, Debbie Sinacore Parker
