Obituary of Susan Marks

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Susan Bell Marks, 62, of Virgil, passed away in her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born January 5, 1959 in Syracuse, New York to parents Frances and Louis Bell. She grew up in Liverpool, New York, where she graduated from high school. She then attended and graduated from SUNY Cortland. During her time at college, she met her future husband Jon. She and Jon moved to Colorado where Sue earned her master's degree in Social Work from Colorado State University. They returned to the Cortland area to raise their children and be closer to family. Sue worked at Franziska Racker Center, where she touched the lives of many people. She then continued her work at Family Counseling Services of Cortland. Her passion for caring for people extended beyond her work into all other aspects of her life. She was a super mom to her children and many more who were not her children. Her boundless optimism and joy were sometimes embarrassing to her family but recognized and adored by all. Sue is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, Jonathan Marks, son Logan Marks and partner Maureen Weinman, daughters Bailey and Gianna Marks, granddaughter Amapola Ramirez Marks, parents Louis and Frances Bell, brother Richard Bell, sister Diane and husband Dave Seltz, and her beloved nieces and nephews.
