Obituary of Nial S. Smith

Nial S. Smith, 88 of Groton passed away on October 14, 2021 at his residence. He was born on December 9, 1932 in Cortland, NY a son of the late Stanley and Theodosia Myers Smith. Nial served his country with the United States Navy from 1955-1957. He owned and operated NRK Smith Farms. Nial previously worked at Smith-Corona. Nial is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Norma, three sons, Gary Smith, Kevin (Kimberley) Smith, Ron (Kelly) Smith, several grandchildren, Kelly Crysler, Nicole (Gregory Williams) Smith, Binny Smith, Carmen (Mick) Sampson, G. Deven (Holly) Smith, Johnathon (Michelle) Smith, Zachary (Kendra) Smith, Landri Smith, Tucker Smith, great grandchildren, Isaac, Emily, Levi, Joshua Crysler, Amar'e Smith, Ally Hathaway, Davena Hathaway, Elaina and Nevaeh Sampson, Rhett Smith, one sister Lynnette Bustamante and several nieces and nephews. Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Virgil Rural Cemetery. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
