Brother
When I graduated Homer High in 1978, I immediately moved out of Mom's house and into a half house at 70 1/2 Maple ave. with some buddies. Glenda was always helping me out, doing my laundry occasionally, setting me up with some food if things were tight, and slipping me a few bucks now and then so I wouldn't fall behind on my beer consumption. When I got the hell out of Cortland and moved to Florida, she stored my meager belongings and later had them shipped down via a Pall truck driver. I saw Glenda every time I went back to New York, and every time she came down here. We were in touch quite often on the phone in the last 3 years. When the thought comes to me "Hey, I should call Glenda, it's been a while" it hurts now. I miss her every day.

Q: How did you meet Glenda?
A: I met Glenda about 7 years ago when a friend told me that she was a seamstress and did alterations. Glenda was very friendly and fun to talk with and was an excellent seamstress. One day when I was at her house to have some alterations done, she gave me a large, floral fabric bag with long handles that she had sewn. She showed me a number of other ones she had also made. She said that when she would go grocery shopping at P&C, she would see elderly people walking home, struggling to carry their groceries in the plastic bags the stores used to provide. She would give them one of her beautiful, sturdy fabric bags to carry their groceries in. She did this numerous times. She took great joy in helping others. Glenda was a generous, thoughtful, caring person and will be missed. Rest in peace, Glenda.
