Joanne Wilson, 78, of Cortland NY, passed away December 23, 2022 at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1944 in Cortland NY. Joanne was a graduate of Penn Yan Academy. Following high school she enlisted with the Salvation Army Officer's Training Program. Throughout her career as a Salvation Army Officer she and her late husband "Bob" served in Maine, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts before retiring and returning to Cortland to be closer to family. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting dolls and spoons along with listening to Gospel music. She is survived by her son James Wilson, her siblings Barbara "Browe" Koch and Diane VanDuser, along with many nieces and nephews. Joanne was predeceased by her parents Leo and Ina Smith Henry, her husband of forty six years Robert Wilson, her sisters Luetta Sneed, Linda Sherman, her brothers, Kenneth Henry Sr and Robert James Henry. Calling hours will be held Wednesday January 11, 2023, 12-2 pm with a funeral service to begin 2 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045.
