Ted and Sherry,
I am so very sorry to hear about Dennis’ passing. It is wonderful for him to be with our Eternal Father - but how devastating that it meant he had to leave his wife and your family - at such a young age in life.
I remember how much help Dennis was to us - during one of the first semesters Juliann and I needed help getting her set up in the dorm at Binghamton University. He went with us, made ‘light of the work’ and kept me from crying all the way back up Rt81. That memory has remained with us for more than 25 years!
You have a marvelous, loving family, and I’ll remember each one in my daily prayers. May the Lord help you as the loss of Dennis’ smile and hugs is missed every day.
With true fondness,
(Cousin) Teri

From a Boy to a Man
Over the past 46 years ……..
I saw a toddler who knew all the names of all of the dinosaurs and who had the cutest sayings.
I saw a little boy become an athlete who could catch the long fly ball up against the fence.
I saw a man become a brother that everyone would be proud to call theirs.
I saw a man become a husband who his wife adored.
I saw a man who always put his family first in his life.
I saw a man respected by everyone who knew him.
I am proud and honored to call that man my son.
Son, I love you with every breath I take.

A Kind, Compassionate and Caring Man
One day as Sharon and I were in Killawog taking pictures of eagles, a young man was walking up the road, heading north towards Marathon. He looked like he had been camping as he had a tent sticking out of his back pack. He was walking against the traffic, not hitchhiking. I said ‘hi’ to him as he passed by me and he answered ‘hi’ back.
Later that day, I was at Dennis’ house. We were just doing what we used to do, hanging out and talking. I asked him what he had been up to that day. He told me a story about a young man with a tent sticking out of his backpack who was hitchhiking out route 41A, past his house. He asked the guy where he was going. The guy said he was on his way out to western NY to see a friend. So, Dennis being Dennis drove the guy all the way out past Auburn and dropped him off where he could hitch a ride further. It was the same young man that passed by us earlier in the day down in Killawog. What are the chances of that?
That’s the kind of person my son was. Very kind, compassionate and caring. He would go out of his way to help someone he didn’t even know, just to lend a hand.

Dennis will always be remembered by all of us who went to Homer Baptist Youth Group with him. I remember him always encouraging everyone in sports whether it was just a game of broom ball in the gym or Church league softball. Rarely saw him without a smile and always had whitty comments. We lost a good one.

He was special to my whole family and we have talked about him often throughout the years.

Derek, Diane and family,
My heart breaks for you all. I remember Dennis being an entertaining and jovial person when we were in school. I hadn't seen him in nearly 15 years when we ran into one another about 3 times over the course of a week, and that last time we had a great conversation and he paid for my lunch. I will remember the kindness I saw in his eyes.
Much love to you all

Dennis was a real good dude who had this awesome talent of not only seeing and bringing out the best in people, but getting them to see it in themselves as well.
Most would not have been able to tell from his clean cut image, but Dennis was probably the biggest metalhead out of anyone in our peer group. Not only did he have a killer collection, curated the best playlists, but he also had a deep well of trivia to go with it(and could sing word to word to every Metallica song written).
I not only had the privilege of going to school with him and working alongside him years later, but also that of having him as a friend. My heart goes out to his family.

We are so sorry to hear about Dennis' passing. He would stop in at the Sunoco station and talk to Tex as he was heading out to work. He grew up with my kids - Rocky, Jason, Livia & Laura. A lot of good times with them. He will be missed. May God be with you during this trying time. You are in my prayers. Donna & Tex Kotas
