Obituary of Sandra Lee (Yacono) Bordwell

Sandra L. (Yacono) Bordwell, 75, of Cortland passed away on March 7, 2023 surrounded by family at Crown Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She was born March 11, 1947, daughter of the late Philip and Lena Yacono. Sandra was born and raised in Cortland and attended Cascadilla Preparatory School in Ithaca NY. She then went on to college at Manhattan Medical School, majoring in Medical Technology. Sandra worked her entire career at Cortland Memorial Hospital where she trained numerous med tech students. She was Chemistry Supervisor for many years prior to her retirement. In 1967 Sandra married Clinton Kurt Bordwell, with whom she had her two daughters. In her free time, Sandra enjoyed crocheting, watching soap operas and especially spending time with her two grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. Sandra is survived by her daughters, Tabitha Bordwell - Palladino and Trisha (Scott) Sherman; sister Felecia Dalola; grandchildren Lena Palladino, Kannon Sherman and Dustin Sherman; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, especially John Robert Dalola, whom she loved as a son. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother-in-law Antonio Dalola, whom she cared for during his illness. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 11 from 11am to 1 pm with a funeral 1 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., at 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY 13045. Sandra will be laid to rest on Monday, March 13 at 12:45 pm in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
