Obituary of Nancy L. Mann
Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy Mann (Mehl) left us on Saturday, June 15, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. It was her decision to leave this life with dignity and not prolong the suffering. Her strength through it all will go unmatched. The family can't thank the nurses from 2 South enough – their care for our mom was filled with love and compassion.
Nancy ran in many groups; her life-long friends, her "Sisters", the Coffeeshop Girls, her Marcellus school friends, Cortland school friends, the Bling Shop, Connie Gamel Beautique, and of course all of her friends at The Park. The stories shared in the last days of Nancy's life will continue to comfort us all.
Nancy grew up in Corning, NY and was proud of the city's history especially Corning Glass Works. She would often boast about her relation to Millard Fillmore, the 13th President of the United States. With help from her "sisters" the connection was made, and genealogy shows that Nancy was in fact telling the truth. Something we all joked about.
She was so proud of being a teacher; it was her passion, and her lineage shows that she was in a long line of accomplished teachers. She kept up relationships with past students often leading them into the teaching field. Nancy had a knack for identifying future leaders.
The love for her mother was something you could not describe; their bond was so strong. Their daily talks were the favorite part of Nancy's day, and we hope that they are chatting it up right now.
The true loves of her life were her grandchildren. Charlotte and Aislyn brought so much joy to Nancy.
Nancy is survived by her loving children Ryan Mann [Elaina Mann], Ali Mann [Stash Dudek], her grandchildren Charlotte and Aislyn Mann, her sisters Judy Mehl and Sue Mehl, plus countless nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hospicare, https://www.hospicare.org/, or donating school supplies to a local school.
