It was through the union of our children that we met. Our relationship is as family, filled with love and respect. We have met few people as generous with their time, humble in their actions and kind in their deeds as Royal. The feeling of loss is shared by the whole family, the memories of Grampy will help lift us to a better place.
with love Phill and Beth Ludwig

There are no words to describe the feeling of loss we endured when Royal passed. He was a kind, thoughtful, generous, and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and friend. We have almost 60 years of memories that we have made with Terri and Royal that we will cherish.
Royal you may not be here to make new memories but your spirit and our love for you will be in our hearts forever!

Royal and I grew up two doors away from each other on James Street in Cortland, New York. I have so many fond memories of growing up in a neighborhood with many families and kids. We attended the Campus School together from kindergarten through 8th grade and CHS through 12th. As kids our days were filled with all sports and activities. In the backyards we played baseball, waffle ball, football, went sledding on Higgins Hill. We climbed the apple trees and built a fort in the wall of the old chicken house. As young boys, we painted the Olsen's front door with mud! I remember fishing at the farm in East Homer. Dr. Phillips would drop us off and we would mess around in the barn and fish and explore until being picked up later in the afternoon. I have many other great memories of Dr. and Mrs. Phillips (she was in school with my mother) Wendy, Jim and Ginger the beagle! Terry and the Phillips family, God Bless and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Stew Eves

My deepest sympathy to Terri and the family. The world has lost a great man, but he leaves behind a beautiful legacy and will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives.
Royal was a close friend throughout our high school years and thereafter. A group of us (Royal, Gary Breeds and others) hung around together and had alot of fun. Those were the "good old days". Great memories!
Rest in peace, Royal.

I remember Royal when he worked at Pall Trinity in the 80s. Everyone there always said there goes the nicest guy they ever worked with. I was always happy to work for him he just had a way with people and remember when he left a lot of people were sad to see him move on. Just a super guy. My sympathy to the family. Rob Harris

I remembered Royal from high school as a very good wrestler although I attended a neighboring school. Enjoyed talking with him through the years as I would see him around town remembering our youth. I will keep him in my prayers and hope to see him again .

Royal and I met when I was in 8th grade. We had a lot of fun together and got in trouble one or twice his humor and laugh were addicting. We played ball together. He pitched and I caught. He was just an all around great friend.
