Harold R. Foster 90 went to be with our Lord on September 8, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Harold was born May 14, 1934 in Cortland, NY to the late Ray and Fanny Kryger Foster. He was married to his high school sweetheart Shirley Williamson Foster for 68 years and had 7 children. He was a life member of Living Word Free Methodist Church of Cortland.
Harold was a sports enthusiast. He loved to fish, ski, hunt, and participated in many golf, bowling and softball leagues in the Cortland area. He also loved to sing and spend time with his family
After graduating from Cortland High in 1953, he started his career at Burden Roofing, then Agway building pole barns prior to his own business, Empire Construction, and retired from Builder's Best designing buildings for customers.
Harold is survived by his brother, Charles Foster, sister Ruth Stevens, his children Sharon (Bill) Strom, Sue (Chris) Fox, Lorrie (Tom deceased)) McDonald, Ronald Foster, Donald (Lisa) Foster, Patty (Nick) Gutchess, Gary (Darlene) Foster, his grandchildren, great grand children and may nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold is predeceased by his loving wife Shirley, his grandsons; Steven Snyder and Bryan Snyder, and his son-in-law Thomas McDonald (Lorrie). He is also predeceased by his siblings Paul, Robert, Ralph, Ernest, Carl, Ethel Briggs, Mary Jane Foster and Edna Mae Widger.
He enjoyed his last two years living at the Elizabeth Brewster house, for the care and companionship received.
Visitation will be held at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Cortland, NY on Saturday, September 14th from 10am to 11:45am. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at noon with Reverend Vern Groves officiating.
Interment will follow at Virgil Cemetery, Virgil, NY.
