I spent a lot of time with Grandma Betty & Grandpa when I was a kid. I would help Grandma dust all her fancy little figurines. She would always supervise me whilst I removed the big vases and glassware from the fireplace mantel. She would say playfully, "Now don't break anything." That made me nervous and I was always afraid of breaking anything in Grandma's house. She had her plastic runners to protect the rugs. She was infamous for keeping covers over the furniture so it wouldn't wear or show dirt. In many ways Grandma was impeccable with most anything in life. Not just her home keeping but also her lifelong relationships and her relationship with God. I spent many Sundays attending church with my grandparents. It is and always will be a fond memory I have of Grandma and Grandpa both. When Grandma became ill with dementia and Alzheimer's she would look at me and say, "Where'd you come from?" The last few years she rarely recognized me. It was hard but I knew deep down somewhere those memories were still there even if absent to her mind at the moment. The last outing was a lunch date back in August of this year. Grandma showed up wearing her straw hat with flowers and her retro sunglasses. It was a wonderful afternoon. I remember looking over at her watching her devour her cheeseburger and thinking, there won't be many days like this left for us. Sadly that thought became a reality just a month later. I'm glad and happy for the time I had with her. She's just one of those ppl who was just a little bit elusive but once you really got to know her and spend time with her she would quickly become a favorite person. She is and will always be one of my favorite ppl in life. Grandma's should get to live forever because without them the world is just not the same. God bless my grandma for all her sweetness, patience and her strength. You will always be my favorite person & I know we will see each other again someday. We are always only a heartbeat away from the ones we love. Love N' Huggies, Chrissy
