Faye Goodale Ferguson
February 13, 1936 – October 23, 2024
Faye Ferguson, age 88, passed away peacefully in her Southampton, NJ home on October 23, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Cortland, NY on February 13, 1936, the daughter of Tom and Francis Owens Goodale.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 47 years, Walt Ferguson. Together, they ran Hom-Cort Electric, in Cortland for many years. She was also preceded in death by her oldest grandson, Jared Walter Ferguson.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ken (Sandy), Mary (Keith), Keith (Paula) and Jim (Theresa); grandchildren Rebekah (Ryan), Kevin (Stephanie), Nicole (Andrew), Zachary (Joelle), Nick (Chelsea), Tierney (Chris), Chris (Alexandra), Grant (Danielle), Nathan, Steven (Kristina), Jonathan and Hannah; great grandchildren Alex, Layla, Everett, Isaac, Hannah, Amelia, Will, Quinn, Eli and Tatum. Another great granddaughter is due in November and another great grandson is due in February. She is also survived by her much loved brother, Tom Goodale, of Williamsburg Virginia. Finally, Faye is very much blessed to be survived by a list of extended relatives, friends and colleagues far too long to name individually.
A near life-long resident of Cortland County, in addition to the family business she ran with her husband, Faye worked a number of years for the county of Cortland. She enjoyed golf, walking, family vacations, volunteering for her children's activities and was active with the Cortland County Seniors group. Her children and grandchildren will always cherish memories of the large, extended family events and holiday gatherings that Faye was always quick to organize and, more often than not, host in her home. She was the living embodiment of the biblical command to love others more than yourself. "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." Philippians 2:3-4.
