Carla and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family on the loss of your mom. My dad used to talk so highly of your parents when he was alive. She was a wonderful woman.

Grandma Davis was a strong, gentle woman who had the utmost love for her family. Growing up on the farm with her and Grandpa is something I’d never trade for the world. Summers there were spent with brothers, sisters, and cousins—all of us together, making some of the best memories. It was a place where we could just be kids, no limits (except for going near the sink pit where a giant snake supposedly lived— that definitely kept me away!)
I remember those summers well. Riding around the farm in the hay wagon, hanging on tight, trying not to get bounced out. Getting lost in the cornfields, spinning around till we had no idea which way was which. And I can still hear her calling out, “Kyleee!” from the porch whenever she caught us knocking down corn to make forts. Sorry about that one, Grandma.
She’d let us head out hunting with our BB guns too, but always with one rule: leave her chickadees alone. Every time, she’d remind us, “No chickadees!” It was just one of those things she always said, and it’s stuck with me.
Then there were the simple things, like her chocolate milk and chocolate chip cookies—honestly, some of the best in the world. That was just who she was, always ready to give us a little comfort after a long day of playing outside.
I think about the quieter times too, like watching The Days of Our Lives with her. There was a serial killer storyline back then, and we couldn’t figure out who it was. We’d wonder who’d be next, thinking there’d be no one left on the show by the end of it. Looking back, those little moments have become some of my favorite memories.
Then there were the holidays. Everyone would gather at the farm and sit around the worlds longest table —longer than Sheryl could throw a bread bun, at least. I went from crawling under that table as a kid to sitting at it as one of the ‘adults.’ Year after year, those gatherings brought us all together, and we looked forward to them every time.
I know she’ll always be with us in our memories and in the way she brought our family's together. Thank you, Grandma, for the summers, the holidays, and all the simple things that left a lasting mark.
Love you always,
Kyle
Your favorite grandchild ;)
