Obituary of Carolyn I. Davis

Carolyn I. Davis, 93, of Cortland, NY passed away on October 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. Carolyn was born on May 12, 1931, in Cortland, NY, the daughter of Ray and Inez (Gallagher) Bancroft. Carolyn and her husband Leland (Lee) operated their family dairy farm together on Route 222 in Cortland, with the help of their children. Carolyn enjoyed her many visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, with one great grandson making his entrance into this world soon. Her favorite past time was watching the many kinds of birds at all her bird feeders. Carolyn always made sure her cats and birds were fed well. She enjoyed watching Syracuse play basketball and football with her daughter. Carolyn is survived by her children Terry Davis, (Cobleskill), Gary (Sherry) Davis, (Cortland), Carla (Rick) McCall, (Kentucky), Paula (Don) Shippey, (Marathon), Mark (Cindy) Davis, (Cortland), Sheryl (Ed) Mattoon, (Lansing), 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; her sister Beverly (Rick) Woodard; sister in law Myrna (Dalt) Flatt, sister in law Charlotte Bancroft, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carolyn is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Leland (Lee) Davis, her brother Marshall Bancroft, sister in law Joan Bancroft, brother Malcolm Bancroft, daughter in law Pam Davis and great grandson Aiden Davis. Calling hours will be held on Sunday November 3, 2024 from 11-1 at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. A funeral service will follow at 1.
