Kitsieʻs Hawaiian lei
In Hawaii it is custom to make lei for transitions in life. The package, filled with yarn & fabric, is an offering to Pele, the goddess of our island. Kitsie and I bonded over our passions for sewing & knitting. When my Mom died she became a beacon matriarch for me. My recent memory with Kitsie is knitting at my Dadʻs the week before he passed. An adventurous woman and loving person, Kitsie taught me so much about how to navigate life. Love to you always my Auntie.
Kitsie was a long-time member of Quilters Consortium of New York State and part of the quilt community in New York. Her beautiful smile, encouraging words, smiles and hugs will stay forever with me. RIP dear Kitsie.
